Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take my insurance?
Somatic Nature Physical Therapy and Wellness is an out-of-network provider of physical therapy for all health insurances. SNPT can provide you a Superbill for you to submit to your health insurance carrier, which allows you to be reimbursed directly by your insurance. Each insurance plan is different, and it is your responsibility to contact your insurance provider and find out exactly what out of network benefits you have. You can call your insurance member benefits and ask what is your deductible and co-insurance for out of network PT services.
Can I use my FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (FSA) or HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSA)?
YES! I can take payment directly using the FSA/HSA card.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (FSA) and HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS (HSA): We can take payment directly using your FSA/HSA card. I then provide a receipt/superbill for services rendered for you to submit.
What should I expect on my first physical therapy visit?
During the first visit, I will do a comprehensive evaluation of your condition and devise an individualized plan of care. I will be asking you many questions to gather a thorough medical history and perform an in-depth physical examination. This ensures that I have all of the information necessary to design the most effective treatment plan for your specific injury. After a comprehensive evaluation, you will learn about the root cause of your injury, receive skillful manual treatments, customized exercise instructions, and recommendations for fully potentiating your healing process. You will receive specific hands-on manual therapies to restore efficient mobility of the joints and soft tissues (including muscle, fascia, nerves, skin, tendons, and ligaments).
Do I need to fill out paperwork on my first visit?
New patient registration/consents and pre-examination questionnaire are required prior to examination and treatment. Once you booked your first appointment, the intake forms are emailed to you and you can complete them online on any device/computer. Not coming prepared to your initial evaluation day will likely reduce the amount of time I can spend treating you.
What should I bring to my first physical therapy visit?
When coming to Somatic Nature Physical Therapy and Wellness, please bring a drivers license or state ID, your completed new patient registration and intake forms, copy of prescription (if you have one; prescription is not required), and copy of imaging report (X-ray, MRI, etc., if you have any).
How long does each visit / session last?
All sessions are 1 hour long. I aim to see all patients at their appointed time, so please come on time, so that you can be treated for the full treatment time.
How many follow up visits will I need for my condition?
Every injury is different, so it is difficult to say. That being said, the average number of visits for PT is typically 12 (+/- 4), depending on the severity and complexity of the injury. Post-operative rehabilitation may take longer, in order to return to pre-injury level, and quite possibly beyond.
Do I need a doctor's prescription for physical therapy?
The state of California does NOT require a prescription for physical therapy. Physical Therapists in California have DIRECT ACCESS. Direct access allows you to receive physical therapy services without a prescription for 45 days or 12 visits, whichever occurs first. After this time frame, you will need to have a prescription from a physician, surgeon, or podiatrist, in order to continue treatment.
However, if I feel that your particular case requires a doctor’s attention, I will advise you promptly and get the doctor involved immediately. If you do have a referring physician, I will work closely with your doctor to provide him/her with the plan of care and progress reports throughout your therapy.
What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable clothing that can easily expose the injured area of the body. Shorts and a loose T-shirt or tank top are preferred. Private changing area is available. If you need to get changed, please arrive a few minutes early before the start of your appointment, so that I can start your appointment on time.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you miss your appointment or cancel without a 48-hour (2 business days) notice, you will be charged a $80 cancellation fee. If your appointment is on Monday, you must cancel at the latest by Friday 9AM, in order to avoid the cancellation fee. Please know that your appointment time is being held for you. Cancelling last minute will not give me sufficient time to fill the time which I have reserved for you.
